Our Story

Started by students.
Built for the community.

Helping Hands began with a simple but powerful idea: to serve people who needed it most — whether they were elderly, too busy, or couldn't afford expensive lawn and home care services.

Founded by four Batavia High School students, we built our business on the belief that hard work, reliability, and heart could set us apart and truly make a difference in our community.

What started as a mission to help quickly grew into a full-service operation. We show up, do quality work, and treat every job with care — with zero contracts, zero pressure.

That mindset led us to compete in the Incubator Entrepreneurship Pitch Competition at BHS, where we won first place and took home $3,000 to reinvest in our community.

The Elderly Neighbor

A visit that meant more than mowing

It was early March, right when lawns start waking up. One of our longtime clients texted ahead — elderly, lives alone, always incredibly kind to us. After finishing her lawn, she asked if we could help move some items, clear debris, and do some weeding. What was planned as a quick visit turned into another hour and a half of work. When everything was done, she thanked us with a big hug. We told her to only pay for the mowing. The rest was simply part of our mission — to help.

No Contract Needed

One call, one mow, no strings attached

One afternoon we got a call from someone who'd injured his back and couldn't mow. He'd already tried several companies — most didn't answer, and those that did wanted a recurring plan. He didn't need a contract. He just needed help — one time. We told him we'd be there. No pressure, no commitments — just a freshly cut lawn and one less thing to worry about while he recovered. Stories like this happen more often than people think. Helping people shouldn't depend on a contract. It should depend on care.
